Volcanoes on a clear day

Posted by Dennis On February - 8 - 2010

Popocatapetl and Iztaccihuatl are the second and third highest mountains in Mexico, respectively, and are located about 43 miles southeast of Mexico City. From where we are located in the Northwestern part of the city, you can only see them about 2 weeks out of the year, due to the fact that you usually have to look through a thick cloud of smog as you look past downtown.

Today (Sunday), however, was one of the clearest days in Mexico City since we moved here 6 years ago. You could see both of the volcanoes clearly. I shot this from the foot bridge in front of the seminary on my Kodak Zi8 (Amazon affiliate link).

About Me

I am a gringo living in Mexico City, hence the name Chilingo: a mix between what they call citizens of Mexico City (Chilango) and what they call Americans (gringo). Chilango + Gringo = Chilingo.
